Anthony Scaramucci was fired as White House communications director on Monday after just over a week on the job after new Chief of Staff John Kelly pushed for the move.
“Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving his role as White House Communications Director. Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best,” the administration said in a statement.
Kelly, a retired Marine general, did not like the fact that the Wall Street financier reported directly to President Trump and wanted to make it clear that he was in charge, sources told The New York Times, which first reported the story.
