False Marketing of Diabetes Drug Kills 2000+ patients in France

A diabetes drug that helps manage glucose levels in insulin resistant type 2 diabetes patients killed had over 2000 people in last two decades. This so called medication,  benofluorex actually contained an amphetamine derivative (fenfluaramine) which was invented in the 60s, then banned in the 80s. Servier, the pharma company responsible for the drug, falsely classified benofluorex as being different than fenfluaramine even though it contained that very substance! Servier continued pushing fenfluaramine under the name benofluorex up until 2009, resulting in these deaths that have benn investigated since 2011 mostly from heart disease and heart failure, while Server profited 24 million.
